FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“Announcing Hidden Gems Institute of Instrumental Music and Fine Arts”
FLINT, Mich., October 16, 2021 - - It brings me great pleasure to introduce Hidden Gems institute of Instrumental Music and Fine Arts. Hidden Gems or HGI began as an idea in march 2021 and after gathering the support of a few like minded individuals, a board was formed with the first meeting being held on June 26, 2021. The board began working on the necessary business to establish a non profit organization in the state of Michigan. On July 29, 2021 the State of Michigan accepted their articles of incorporation and recognized HGI as a non profit organization.
What began as an idea to simply bring instrumental music back into our communities in the form of a community all star and alumni HBCU style marching band quickly transformed into a safe space for all things art and performance with an intent to provide the HBCU college experience that many people wish they could have experienced but never got the chance.
HGI is currently comprised of three main components. The Leadership Board, BandSport After School Program and The Bedrock All Star and Alumni Marching Band featuring the Red Diamond Dance Team.
We are still in the early organizational stages and are currently looking for a home to house and develop these ideas which will lead to creating programs and events that the city can enjoy. We intend to continue our start up phase and look to apply for 501c3 tax exemption at the beginning of the new year. Currently we are exploring different local, state, regional and national organizations to partner with that will help us further our mission of keeping the music and arts alive in our communities.
